The year 2005 does not have a lot in store for you if you’re a Bond fan. There will be three important film anniversaries, including such classics as 1965s Thunderball and 1995s GoldenEye. 
Six James Bond novels will also have an anniversary this year. Three were written by Ian Fleming, two by John Gardner, and one by Raymond Benson.
On March 3rd, Ian Fleming Publications will release Charlie Higson’s new Young Bond™ novel, SilverFin, in the United Kingdom. SilverFin will be released in the United States on April 27th. The currently unnamed second Young Bond™ novel is set to be released sometime in November.
Sadly, 2005 does not see the release of Bond 21. Partly due to the MGM/Sony merger, Bond 21, has been rescheduled for a 2006 release.
Titan’s Casino Royale
As of right now, Electronic Arts does not have another James Bond video game planned for 2005 — at least they have not annouced it yet. Due to the success of 2004’s James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing and GoldenEye: Rogue Agent a new Bond game for 2005 is inevitable.
The James Bond: Casino Royale comic strip book will be released by Titan Books on February 25th in the United Kingdom.
Sideshow Collectibles is releasing a few new Bond figures this year. The first Quarter sees the release of the Sean Connery as James Bond 1/4 Scale figure and the Michelle Yeoh as Wai Lin 12” figure. The Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 1/4 Scale figure will be released during the second Quarter. Sideshow Collectibles will also release a 12” figure of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond wearing the HALO jump suit from Tomorrow Never Dies (CBn story).

New to the Bond world, JoyRide Studios will be producing at least six 1:18 scale Bond vehicles from various 007 Films. You can read about the details in CBn’s latest article.
Sean Connery will turn 75 years old this year, George Lazenby will turn 66, Roger Moore will turn 78, Timothy Dalton will turn 59 and Pierce Brosnan will turn 52.
As of right now, 2005 does not look like a very promising year. The lack of a new Bond film will make 2005 365 days of torture for some fans. Others will be tortured by the release of the two new Young Bond™ novels by Charlie Higson. Right now you’re thinking 2005 couldn’t get any worse. Well, you’re wrong! Fans of Thunderball have to wait until December to celebrate its 40th anniversary!
Overall, 2005 will not be as good as 2004 but it won’t be a total disappointment for fans of the greatest fictional character ever, James Bond 007!
