> BROSNAN'S HEAD IS ON THE BLOCK, Eon Tests Reactions To Replacing Brosnan

Sources inside Eon Productions have confirmed that while Pierce Brosnan is not definitely out that Eon are looking at the possibility of replacing him. The recent news stories about Brosnan having already been axed from the role of James Bond are not entirely false, the source reports.

From what can be made from what is coming out of the production company, the recent leaks of Brosnan being fired are a ‘trial balloon’ to test the audiences reaction to Brosnan being replaced. If there is a huge backlash to this news Eon could still choose to back down and deny the whole thing as rumour.

At first this whole rumour appeared to be yet another PR stunt to get another actor’s name in the news. However, with no official denial from a company that has recently been very fast to deny rumours it would seem what the source inside Eon is saying could very well be true that Eon Productions are looking at the possibility of replacing Pierce Brosnan with a younger actor. But they want to see what the general audience reaction is first.

This all comes on the heels of the wide release of Everything Or Nothing, the first James Bond video game to feature both the looks and original voice content of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond.

I still don't believe it. Pierce is making them far too much money. EON has shown that they like to stick with what works. The only thing I could see EON gaining is the possibility to release every two years instead of every three.

Where'd you get this from?

If it's true, in other words that Eon is planning to examine fans' reactions before making a final decision, then The Powers That Be will definitely be looking at CBn right now.

In which case all I can say is:

SHOW BROSNAN THE DOOR! HIRE CLIVE OWEN!

A source. Can’t say anything more than that.

I'm no so sure. I would have thought that they'd be more interested in "general audience" thoughts than "hardcore fan" thoughts. Fans will go see the film regardless of who is in it.

Still, interested to see what the "audiences reaction" will be. I know Broz has his fans, but there are quite a few who'd rather see someone else too.

Granted, but "general audience" types don't air their views on sites like this one. Only "hardcore fan" types do. So CBn, MI6, AICN and a few other sites are surely the only sources of feedback Eon is likely to be able to obtain. How will they be able to find out about "general audience" thoughts until a new film has hit cinemas? They're surely not planning to randomly poll people by telephone or stand with clipboards on street corners.

Yeah, good point. I'm sure they'll check AICN. Just that I've always considered "listening to the fans" to be a dangerous course of action. Are these the same fans who think the next film should be titled Shaken Not Stirred and have Bond (played by Colin Salmon) marry Miss Moneypenny ?

If they've thinking of replacing him because "he's too old", what does this mean ? Do they want someone younger just for a change in direction, to freshen things up, or is it to become more hip, appeal to younger demographics ?

Does the title of the article really need to be 'Brosnan's head on the block'?

Haha. Why not something less graphic, like "Brosnan's Bond 21 Role In Question" or something...
